34 projects worth $1.4 trillion Kazakh tenge are being implemented currently in the Atyrau province of Kazakhstan, deputy akim (deputy head of administration) of the Atyrau province Gumar Dyusembayev said.
"These are significant volumes, the most part of which goes on the oil and gas projects," Dyusembayev said on Wednesday at the opening of the third International Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition 'Caspian shelf development'.
Dyusembayev noted that the protection of the environment and state of ecology remain as the main issues in the future production of oil.
"It is essential that these two tasks are balanced. Our region opens great opportunities for the introduction of new technologies that will enable us to comply with the balance of these tasks," he said.
The third International Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition 'Caspian shelf development' began its work in Atyrau on June 19 with the support of the KAZENERGY Association.
The main topic of the forum is 'Ultra-modern technologies for successful development of the Caspian Sea shelf field projects'.
According to the event's organising committee, major oil and gas operators, key experts in the field and representatives of international organisations and Caspian countries' government agencies gathered in the oil and gas capital of Kazakhstan to discuss the latest achievements in the strategic development of the oil and gas industry on the Caspian shelf.
Issues of the environmental safety of offshore development and technological innovation will be discussed on the first day of the conference. The second day will be devoted to regional projects in the Caspian Sea, namely the development of shelf oil fields in Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan and innovative technologies of exploration and production on the offshore fields of the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea.
The 'Caspian shelf development' is the only event in the region which focuses on the latest technological innovations for offshore projects.
