Kazakhstan has set ceiling prices for commercial gas in Nur-Sultan city, Akmola and Karaganda regions, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of energy.
The ministry said that these regions are now supplied with gas due to the construction of Saryarka pipeline, which is now being linked to the regional distribution lines.
Thus, the maximum wholesale price was approved by the ministry in the amount of 24,537 tenge ($59.5) per 1,000 cubic meters, excluding VAT.
The maximum wholesale price for commercial gas was approved by the Ministry of Energy in agreement with the Ministry of National Economy, taking into account the economic and social conditions of gas supply to the regions, based on the costs of purchasing a commercial gas by the national operator and the costs of transporting commercial gas, the ministry said.
The corresponding decree was published on May 25, 2020 and enters into force since the day of its publishing. The decree said that the prices were said for the period from Jul. 1, 2020 till Jun. 30, 2021.
The construction of Kazakhstan’s Saryarka main pipeline was completed in Dec. 2019 and the pipeline was put into operation on Dec. 27, 2019.
The pipeline, which starts in country’s Kyzylorda region, will supply gas to country’s capital, as well as central and northern regions.
Following full completion of the project, citizens of Nur-Sultan. Karaganda, Temirtau, Zhezqazghan cities, as well as about 2.7 million people living in 171 nearby districts will be supplied with natural gas.
The official ceremony of pipeline’s construction launch was held in Dec. 2018. In Jan. 2019, mobilization of equipment and workers started, and pipeline welding started in March 2019.
