Turkmenistan is working on the development of the electric power industry, Trend reports with reference to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

In this context, Turkmenistan is constructing gas-turbine power plants, transmission lines, distribution substations in the regions, as well as upgrade other power supply of capital and other cities and towns.

The country has increased the production capacity of the energy industry in recent years, which allows it to provide not only the domestic market but also to send products for export.

The priority in the development of the electric power industry in Turkmenistan is the technological re-equipment of industrial enterprises, improving the quality of energy supply, construction of energy-intensive industrial plants, increasing electricity production and export.

Thus, as part of the ongoing work to strengthen and modernize the material and technical base of the industry in recent years, gas turbine power plants have been added to its infrastructure, including those built in the capital –Ashgabat and Akhal, Balkan, Lebap, and Dashoguz regions. The first combined combined-cycle power plant in the country has been put into operation at the Mary Hydroelectric power station.

Thus, the ceremony of laying two gas turbine power units with a design capacity of 70 Megawatts/hour at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries, which was held on September 9 with the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, was important in achieving this goal.
