The gas pressure in Iran-Qatar South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is projected to decrease in the next 3-4 years, Managing Director of Iran's Pars Oil & Gas Company (POGC) Mohammad Meshkinfam said, Trend reports citing the POGC’s website.
Meshkinfam noted that there is no pressure drop in this field at present. Of course, there are a number of plans to eliminate the reduction of gas pressure.
The director added that Iran's rich gas extraction potential from the South Pars gas field is 700 million cubic meters per day. Given the current winter season, Iran extracts 680 million cubic meters of gas per day from this field.
"The extraction from the South Pars gas field has increased by 65 million cubic meters daily in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). This increase was achieved as a result of the launch of the pipeline of the 16th phase of the field, a number of repair works, upgrade of drilled wells," he said.
The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran has so far spent $80 billion on projects of the South Pars gas field.
Iran extracted 570 million cubic meters of gas per day from this field in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, to March 20, 2020).
