Turkish BOTAS reveals volume of oil pumped through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 26. The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 130.685 million barrels of oil through Türkiye from January through July 2024, Trend reports via BOTAS, the operator of the Turkish section of BTC.

This volume represents a decrease of 2.724 million barrels, or 2 percent, compared to the same period in 2023.

"In July 2024 alone, 20.533 million barrels were transported through Türkiye via BTC, an increase of 0.898 million barrels or 4.6 percent compared to July last year," the Turkish company said.

BTC has been operational since 2006 and currently transports oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields and condensate from the Shah Deniz field on the Azerbaijani shelf of the Caspian Sea. The pipeline also carries Turkmen and Kazakh oil.

BTC has a capacity of 1.2 million barrels of oil per day, but it is not currently fully utilized.
