BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1. The first oil can be expected to be produced from the Karabakh oil field in Azerbaijan in 2029-2030, Head of bp Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye Communications Department Tamam Bayatli told Trend.
According to her, it's now possible to speed up work on the already explored Karabakh oil field.
"It's already necessary to determine the time and place of drilling wells, and conduct evaluation work. After that, we can expect the first oil to be extracted from the Karabakh field. According to preliminary estimates, the first oil can be obtained around 2029-2030," she noted.
She also pointed out that drilling work still needs to be carried out at the Ashrafi-Dan Ulduzu-Aypara field, the preliminary data obtained must be analyzed, and based on the exploration results, it is determined whether oil or gas production is possible.
"This will take some time. The scope and nature of further work in this field will be known after the completion of exploration work," she emphasized.
Bayatli added that bp, together with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), which is a partner in these projects, is developing an action plan for the development of these fields.
