Uzbekistan is going to accentuate on development of eco-tourism, Uzbek media reported.
Ecological tourism is a purposeful journey into natural territories with a view to a deeper understanding of local culture and the natural environment that do not violate the integrity of ecosystems, while making the protection of natural resources profitable for local people.
"Ecotourism is very beneficial for the state, as it is more expensive than the usual type of tourism, it has many additional services, so this rest is more expensive for holidaymakers, and this is a positive feature," Nodir Yunusov, the head of the Tashkent city department for ecology and environmental protection, said at the press conference in the State Ecology Committee.
Ecotourism has a number of advantages: travel to nature, familiarization with wildlife, with local customs and culture; minimization of negative environmental and socio-cultural impacts, maintenance of environmental sustainability; promoting nature protection and local socio-cultural environment;
Among the benefits of ecotourism are also environmental education and education; participation of local residents and their receipt of income from tourism, which creates for them economic incentives for nature protection; economic efficiency and contribution to sustainable development of visited regions.
