Turkey interested in increasing number of tourists from China - ministry

Turkey is interested in increase in the number of tourists from China, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey told Trend Aug. 27.

In June 2018, 32,010 tourists from China visited Turkey, which is 3.21 percent more than in the same month of 2017.

"The share of Chinese citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in June 2018 amounted to 0.71 percent," the ministry stated.

For comparison, in the same month of 2017, this figure was 0.50 percent.

The Ministry also noted that within six months (January-June) of 2018, 191,019 tourists from China visited Turkey, which is 93.73 percent more than in the same period in 2017.

"The share of Chinese citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey during the six months of 2018 amounted to 1.20 percent," the ministry stated.

In June 2018, a total of 5,091,496 tourists visited Turkey, which is 28.49 percent more than the indicator for the same month of 2017.

Some 451,699 tourists from Germany, 306,647 - from the UK, 241,095 - from Ukraine and 210,989 tourists from Bulgaria have visited Turkey in June 2018, and 3,881,066 tourists who visited Turkey in June 2018, fall to the share of other states.

During the above-mentioned period, 1,933,899 tourists, accounting for 42.92 percent of the total number of tourists, have visited of the Turkish province of Antalya.

In June 2018, 1,100,389 tourists, which account for 24,42 percent of the total number of tourists, have visited Istanbul.

At the end of January-June 2018, the number of tourists visiting Turkey amounted to 15,968,001, which is 30.36 percent more than in 1H2017.
