BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. Azerbaijan welcomed 244,079 foreign nationals and stateless persons in May 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Tourism Agency indicates that this figure represents an increase of 4,808 visitors, or 2 percent, compared to the same month in 2024.
Moreover, a total of 979,963 foreigners and stateless individuals visited the country, marking a year-on-year growth of 14,408 people, or 1.5 percent, from January through May 2025.
Russia accounted for the largest share of visitors in May 2025, with 62,809 tourists—a 9 percent decrease from the previous year. Türkiye followed with 41,299 visitors, showing a 10 percent rise, while 23,326 tourists from India (listed under 'South Asia' in the table below) placed the country third on the list, up by 21 percent year-on-year.
