Kyrgyzstan shares data on gold exports to Switzerland

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 16. Kyrgyzstan exported 17.065 tons of gold to Switzerland in 2023, with the export value totaling $1.088 billion, Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicates that in December 2023, Kyrgyzstan exported 4.2 tons of gold to Switzerland. Kyrgyzstan did not export gold to Switzerland in 2022.

Among the countries to which Kyrgyzstan exported gold in 2023, Switzerland ranked first. Following Switzerland is China’s Hong Kong, where 1.847 tons of gold were exported. In the UAE, 1.294 tons were exported, and 5.5 kg were sent to Türkiye.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan exported 20.2 tons of gold in 2023, which is 69 times higher than the 290 kg of gold exported in 2022. The export value amounted to $1.284 billion, marking a 14-fold increase compared to 2022 ($13 million).

Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland amounted to $1.102 billion in 2023 (7 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total trade), increasing by nearly 108 times compared to 2022 ($10.150 million). Kyrgyzstan’s exports to Switzerland reached $1.088 billion last year, while imports from Switzerland totaled $14.203 million.

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.66 billion in 2023, which is a 29.9 percent increase compared to 2022. The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, rising by 46.8 percent year-on-year. Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than in 2022.
