DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 28. Industrial production in Pendjikent, located in the Sughd region of Tajikistan, totaled 5.45 billion somoni ($499 million) from January through November 2024, Trend reports.
The City Council of the sixth convocation announced this during its 22nd session.
Overall industrial output has grown by 20.1 percent compared to the previous year, with significant increases in several sectors. The most notable growth was seen in coal mining, which doubled, as well as in dairy product manufacturing (up 25.7 percent), school uniforms production (up 2.6 times), and confectionery (up 19.4 percent).
Between 2022 and 2024, 529 new facilities were built in Pendjikent, including 39 industrial enterprises, 44 educational institutions, 24 medical facilities, 18 sports complexes, and 75 retail and service centers.
Meanwhile, the industrial output in the Sughd region of Tajikistan amounted to 26.517 billion somoni ($2.4 billion) from January through November 2024, which is 15.5 percent higher compared to the same period in 2023.
