Uzbekistan records big increase in gold exports in 10M2023

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 23. The value of Uzbekistan’s non-monetary gold exports amounted to $6.87 billion from January through October of 2023, Trend reports.

As per data provided by Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee, deliveries increased 2.3 times compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, from January to October 2023, Uzbekistan's overall foreign trade transaction exceeded $50 billion.

Exports accounted for 40.2 percent of overall international trade transaction, totaling $20.47 billion, a significant 29.1 percent rise. Meanwhile, imports accounted for 59.8 percent of total trade, totaling $30.5 billion, a 22.7 percent increase.

As of September 2023, gold prices in Uzbekistan rose by more than 1 percent and reached the record set in May 2023. The price for one ingot of 5 grams amounts to 3.9 million Uzbek soums ($320) as of September 18, while the cost of one gram is fixed at 790,940 soums ($65).

Since the beginning of the year, the prices for the precious metal have fluctuated and updated the quotation record several times: the price for the smallest ingot crossed the mark of 3.8 million soums ($312) for the first time in March and approached 3.9 million soums ($320) in early May.
