TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 26. Uzbekistan produced a total of 14.05 million Gcal of heat energy from January through July 2024, Trend reports.
The data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency shows that the production volume of heat energy has decreased by 3.9 percent compared to the same period last year (14.6 million Gcal in January–July 2023).
At the same time, the country’s volume of heat energy production amounted to 1.3 million Gcal in July 2024, which is the same as in June 2024 (1.3 million Gcal).
Concurrently, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided support for a $1.5 billion project aimed at modernizing Tashkent's heating infrastructure.
The project aims to lower carbon emissions in Uzbekistan, enhance energy efficiency, decrease water usage and leakage, and improve the quality and dependability of the country's heat supply.
When the initiative is fully implemented, it is expected to reduce network heat losses by more than 40 percent, minimize breakdowns, reduce water leakage by more than 60 percent, and reduce electricity consumption by more than 15 percent in the country.
