TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 17. The number of Italian citizens who visited Uzbekistan from January through July 2024 amounted to 19,500 people.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Statistics Agency shows that this figure has increased by 77.2 percent (8,500 people) compared to the same period in 2023.
The main purposes of visits of Italian citizens to Uzbekistan are recreation (17,767 people), business trips (866 people), visits to relatives (807 people), study (68 people), treatment (1 person), and business (9 people).
Meanwhile, the number of tourists from Uzbekistan who traveled abroad from January through July 2024 amounted to 3.4 million people. This figure increased by 35.7 percent (890,500 people) compared to the same period last year.
The most popular tourist destination for citizens of Uzbekistan was Kyrgyzstan (1.6 million people). In second place was Tajikistan with 676,400 visitors, followed by Kazakhstan with 526,400 visitors.
However, the number of foreign tourists visiting Uzbekistan amounted to 4.2 million people, which is 15.3 percent (562,500 people) more than in the same period last year.
