BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 25. Iran's exports of steel and steel products decreased by 16.3 percent in value and 15.6 percent in weight during the 4th month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through July 22, 2023), the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.

Iran's exports of steel and steel products amounted to 4 million tons worth $2.07 billion during 4 months.

However, during the same period last year Iran exported 4.76 million tons of steel and iron products worth $2.47 billion.

Meanwhile, about 1.15 million tons of steel and iron ingots worth about $541 million, 372,000 tons of rebar worth $786 million, 246,000 tons of steel sheets worth $118 million, 242,000 tons of unfinished steel and iron worth $115 million and 8.1,000 tons of hollow sections and pipes worth $114 million were exported from Iran during the 4 months.

To note, Iran's steel production potential is about 40 million tons per year. Iran aims to increase its steel production capacity to 55 million tons by 2025.
