BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 4. Iran's production at the 11th phase of the Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) will increase by 18 million cubic meters per day, Mohammad Reza Rajabi, a representative of Iran's Pars Oil and Gas Company, told reporters, Trend reports.
He predicts that by the winter season of this year (December 21, 2024), production from the 11th phase of the South Pars gas field will reach 18 million cubic meters. The 7th well on the phase will undergo commissioning to enable this increase.
Rajabi reported that six wells on this platform are currently producing 15 million cubic meters of gas.
"Since August of last year, we have produced 4.7 billion cubic meters of gas from the phase, valued at $800 million," he added.
He also mentioned that the 11th platform reservoir contains approximately 21 trillion cubic feet (about 594 billion cubic meters) of gas. The company intends to finalize the 11th phase development by 2028, aiming to drill a total of 12 wells in this phase.
Iran and Qatar jointly own the South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar), which boasts estimated gas reserves of 51 trillion cubic meters, of which 36 trillion cubic meters are considered extractable. Iran's share in this field includes 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
France's Total and China's CNPCI companies have refused to operate in the 11th phase of the South Pars gas field as a result of US sanctions against Iran. According to this, the operations in this phase are fully entrusted to the Petropars Operation and Management Company.
