Non-oil export via Iran's Sahlan Customs increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 5. The export of non-oil products through Sahlan customs office operating in Sahlan Special Economic Zone of East Azerbaijan Province, located in northwestern Iran, increased by 29 percent during the seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through October 22, 2023), the head of Iran's Sahlan customs office Tohid Azerbod said, Trend reports.

He claims that during the seven months, Sahlan Customs exported non-oil products worth $178 million.

During the seven months, this customs office handled the import of $587 million worth of products, according to Azerbod. The import of products increased by 55 percent compared to the same period last year.

The official reported that Sahlan Customs imported 61,600 tons of essential goods into the nation over a seven-month period.

Meanwhile, Iran's Sahlan customs office is located near the Iran-Türkiye international transit highway, and the country's railway line passes through its territory.

Iran's imports of non-oil products amounted to 88.7 million tons worth $32.5 billion during seven months of the current Iranian year. Compared to the same period last year, exports of non-oil products increased by 15 percent in value and 11.4 percent in weight.

To note, Iran's imports of non-oil products for seven months amounted to 21.7 million tons worth $40.5 billion.
