BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 11. Iran's Supreme Council of Economic Coordination has approved the import of equipment for renewable energy power plants capable of producing up to 30,000 megawatts of electricity, Trend reports.

The imported equipment will pack a punch with solar power station gear boasting a capacity of 25,000 megawatts and wind turbines that can churn out 5,000 megawatts.

The process of importing these devices will be managed by Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade.

Currently, the total production capacity of renewable energy-based power plants in Iran stands at 1,550 megawatts. Iran’s Minister of Energy, Abbas Aliabadi, has stated that this capacity will increase to 2,000 megawatts by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2025).

The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran (SATBA) has set a target of adding an average of 10,000 megawatts of renewable energy capacity per year.
