BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the ports of Abadan County in Iran’s Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), increased by 139 percent in 2 months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through May 20, 2024), said Kambiz Malekizadeh, head of Ports and Maritime Department in Abadan County, Trend reports.
Malekizadeh noted that around 12,815 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the ports of Abadan County within 2 months.
He added that the main handled items were fish and construction materials, fish and fish products, animal feed, foodstuffs, equipment spare parts.
The official also said that the mentioned goods were exported and imported to the countries around the Persian Gulf, mainly the UAE and Kuwait and vice versa.
Malekizadeh said that since the ports of Abadan are located in the Persian Gulf, they have great opportunities for exporting agricultural products to the surrounding countries.
There are 3 ports operating in Abadan County of Iran - Arvandkenar, Chavibdeh and Abadan ports.---
