TEHRAN, Iran, Oct 26. The spokesperson of Iran`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nasser Kanaani announced that Iran and Saudi Arabia are ready to begin the next stage of political talks, Trend reports citing IRNA.
“After the implementation of the agreements that were made at the last 5 rounds of negotiations, the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that it is possible for the two countries to enter a better and more constructive stage,” said Kanaani during the weekly press conference.
He noted that Iran and Saudi Arabia are two important countries in the region, “Taking a new step towards improving the relations will both provide the common interests of Iran and Saudi Arabia and also the regional interests”
He expressed his hope that the positive dialogue between Iran and Saudi Arabia in Baghdad, will take us forward to provide mutual and regional interests.
The Saudi-Iran talks aimed at defusing yearslong tensions between the regional countries began quietly in Iraq’s capital in 2021. A fifth and last round of talks was held in Baghdad in April 2022 before they were suspended again amid soaring Middle East tensions.
