The radical Islamist Hamas movement ruling Gaza said Tuesday that the first visit of Hillary Rodham Clinton to the region as US Secretary of State was "disappointing."

In her meetings with Israeli leaders, Clinton said the new US administration was committed to Israel's security and to the two- state solution to the Middle East conflict, reported dpa.

"The visit is disappointing and shows that there will be no new US policies towards the region," said Mushier al-Massri, a Hamas lawmaker.

"It is clear that we would be describing every visit by Clinton as an indication of bad luck if the policies of Bush and Rice are going to be applied again in the region," al-Massri added.

Al-Massri reiterated that Hamas will not accept the three conditions outlined by the Quartet of Middle East peace sponsors for lifting it out of its isolation.

The bloc of the US, European Union, United Nations and Russia have demanded it recognize Israel's right to exist, renounce violence and endorse interim peace agreements calling for a two-state solution.

"Hamas' positions are fixed and can not be changed," he said.
