( dpa )- More than 3,000 pirated shirts bearing a popular US label were confiscated from a Singapore mall, news reports said on Saturday. The street value of the fake Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirts, polo T-shirts and business shirts was nearly 120,000 Singapore dollars (80,000 US dollars), police said. Officials will "clamp down hard on profiteers looking to sell such counterfeit products" during the Chinese New Year festive season, The Straits Times quoted police spokesman Lim Tung Li as saying. A couple, both 35, have been arrested in connection with Friday's raid, the report said. The clothing was openly displayed on movable racks on the second floor of the mall. Abercrombie & Fitch does not operate any outlets in the city-state.
