( dpa ) - Cheating wives are on the rise in Singapore, a newspaper reported Sunday.
The number of wives having affairs has been on the increase over the last five years, private investigators said.
The married women are usually career high-fliers in their 30s who travel often as part of their jobs, The Sunday Times reported.
"A lot of the women travel or are posted overseas, and many get involved with third parties," Vincent Tan, director of Commercial Investigations LLP, was quoted as saying.
Each month his firm takes on about 15 cases involving matrimonial checks. Women used to be the ones doing the hiring, but increasing numbers of men have asked for checks on their wives during the last five years.
Lawyer Amolat Singh said that he used to get two cases a year of husbands divorcing cheating wives. He saw seven such cases last year.
Some husbands have resorted to installing spyware on their wives' computers to track their e-mail and messages, he said.
Divorces in the city-state hit an all-time high of 7,061 in 2006.
