Pakistani president, PM condemn polling station blast

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Sunday strongly condemned a polling station blast in northwest, which killed at least 25 people, Xinhua reported.

Zardari and Gilani expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the blast that ripped through a polling station in the Buner district in North West Frontier Province on Sunday.

The two leaders condemned the blast and directed the provincial government to start investigation into the incident.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Polling for a National Assembly seat, which became vacant due to a member's death, was going on when the blast occurred in restive northwestern Pakistan.
