The Moroccan authorities have confirmed the death toll as 16 in Thursday's terrorist attack, the national news agency MAP said Friday.
Initial reports had spoken of 18 fatalities, dpa reported.
Twenty-one people were injured.
The explosion occurred at a cafeteria popular among tourists in central Marrakech. Most of the victims were foreign tourists. They included six French and one Dutch citizen, French and Dutch media reported.
The explosion had reportedly been caused by a terrorist who entered the cafeteria with explosives. Security measures were tightened in Marrakech while King Mohammed VI promised a thorough investigation into the attack.
