Mexican Interior Minister Jose Francisco Blake died Friday in a helicopter accident in Morelos state, government spokeswoman Alejandra Sota said.
Seven other people aboard the flight also died. There were no survivors, dpa reported.
The government aircraft, a Super Puma, was flying from Mexico City to Cuernavaca, 85 kilometres south of the capital, when it crashed for unknown reasons in an unpopulated area.
