Azerbaijani Citizen in Armenian Captivity Undergoes Medical Examination

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Jaliloglu / Anar Aliyev, a resident of Terter District of Azerbaijan, who was released on 12 December after 5 months in Armenian captivity, exclusively informed Trend regional correspondent about his capture.

Aliyev said that on 2 August he was running along the Terter River near his house between 17:00-18:00 hours when he met with two people in camouflage uniforms. The soldiers asked for Aliyev's assistance and as a result, Aliyev was held captive, was blindfolded and taken to an unknown destination

Aliyev stated that during the 5 years he was imprisoned in the same room. Speaking of his captives' treatment of him, he said that he was not tortured and he did not suffer from lack of food and water. Aliyev said that he was permitted to respond to letters from his parents although the letters were written under pressure.

After being handed over to the Azerbaijan authorities on 12 December, Aliyev underwent medical examinations which revealed a clean bill of health.
