Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Dec. 18 /corr. Trend E.Hasanov / This evening the President of Bulgaria, Georgiy Pyrvanov, arrived in Ashkhabad on his first official visit. His meeting with the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbangulu Berdimuhammadov, is scheduled for tomorrow. The main topics of negotiations will be fuel and energy complexes and transport. "Both countries, which take advantageous geographical location, have all possibilities for the joint participation in global energy and transport projects," the press service of the Head of Turkmenistan reported.
A pack of inter-governmental documents is planned to be signed as a result of two days visit. A joint business forum will take place during the visit.
The legal foundation of the Turkmen-Bulgarian relations includes two interdepartmental documents - the protocol on Co-operation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Agreement on Co-operation between the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Turkmenistan and the Bulgarian Economic Chamber.
Tourist sphere is considered perspective. The base for the Bulgarian economy collects speeds in Turkmenistan. At present under the personal leadership Berdimuhammadov, a multibillion project is realized on the creation of the free tourist zone Avaz on the coast of Caspian Region.
In January-October 2008 the foreign trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Bulgaria made up about $8 million. A major part of Turkmenistan's export to Bulgaria - fuel and energy, agricultural products and textiles. Turkmenistan imports chemical products, equipment and mechanisms, medicaments, household goods and metal products.
