Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Jan. 23 /corr. Trend E.Hasanov / The first deputy foreign minister of Russia, Andrei Denisov, considers the upcoming visit of the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov, to Russia in March 2009 "the event of international scale".
"Russia considers this visit not only as important event in the history of
bilateral relations, but also as the event of regional and international
scale," local media outlets reported with reference to Denisov's words during
the meeting with the President of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen Head highlighted the high level
of steady inter-governmental co-operation, emphasizing the special importance,
which Turkmenistan attaches to strengthening Turkmen-Russian relations as
"one of the strategic priorities of its foreign policy".
Russian diplomat mentioned the high interest of Russian business people in the
active presence in the Turkmen market. Special attention was paid to the topic of
energy partnership.
"Being the co-sponsor of UN Resolution
on the Reliable and Stable Transit of Energy and Its Role in Ensuring the
Sustainable Development and International Cooperation, which was adopted on the
initiative of Turkmenistan at 63rd session of the UN General Assembly, Russia
is prepared to the closest co-operation in the sphere of fuel and energy
complexes, where both countries have huge potential and large experience of
fruitful joint work," said Denisov.
In this stage, Gazprom imports practically the entire volume of export gas in Turkmenistan upon the long-term contract.
