Iran is still to appoint its special envoy on Caspian problem, Lutfali Azimzade, an official representative of the Iranian embassy in Baku told Trend.
After the presidential elections and establishment of a new government in Iran the special envoy of the Iranian President on the Caspian diplomacy, Mehdi Safari, was discharged from his post, while the new one is still to be appointed. Azimzade said that Iran will be represented by a delegation of officials of the Foreign Ministry in the Baku gathering scheduled for 6 October 2005
The meeting will continue the consultations on closing the positions on the sea status. The meeting will be held with the deputy ministers of Caspian littoral countries вЂ" Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.
In particular, experts continue work over ecological problems, coordinate draft field agreement on utilization and protection of biological resources, on hydro-metrology, sea and military shipment.
Khalaf Khalafov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, also the special representative of the President in the Caspian status definition, will represent Azerbaijan in the talks.
