BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 18. Iran's Aghajari Oil & Gas Production Company (AOGPC) will raise its daily flare gas collection at the Rag-Sefid oil field to 100 million cubic feet (around 2.83 million cubic meters) by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2025), said the executive director of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) Ebrahim Piramoun, Trend reports.

Speaking at a meeting on production-related matters at AOGPC, Piramoun mentioned that the company is implementing a project to collect flare gas burned at the Rag-Sefid 1 oil field.

Currently, about 40 million cubic feet (around 1.13 million cubic meters) of gas is being collected alongside crude oil produced from this field. With the full implementation of the project by the end of the year, this volume will increase.

He also highlighted that studies have shown the highest amount of flare gas is collected in the Agajari Oil and Gas Extraction Company's territory. Over the next two years, efforts will focus on maximizing flare gas collection in the NISOC's area to significantly reduce gas shortages in the country.

To note, the Aghajari Oil and Gas Production Company operates under the Iranian National Company of Southern Oil Zones. This company exploits eight oil and gas fields. It produces 615,000 barrels of heavy and light crude oil daily from the fields. The company also produces more than 27.8 million cubic meters of gas daily.

Iran's Southern Oil Zones National Company, affiliated with the National Oil Company of Iran, owns 45 large and small hydrocarbon fields in an area of 400,000 square kilometers from the Iranian province of Bushehr to the northern province of Khuzestan. The company's territories produce about 80 percent of Iran's crude oil and 16 percent of its gas.

Moreover, the National Company for the Southern Oil Zones of Iran plans to collect 70 million cubic feet (about 1.98 million cubic meters) of flare gas by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2025), with projections to reach 250 million cubic feet (around 7.08 million cubic meters) by March 20, 2026, and 600 million cubic feet (around 17 million cubic meters) by March 20, 2028.
