ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 15. In 2025, projects totaling over $4.5 billion are under consideration, said Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), during a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports.

During the meeting, President Tokayev was handed a report that laid out the current results and future plans of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), giving him the lowdown on where things stand and what's on the horizon.

Tokayev was informed that since the implementation of the Country Strategy for the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2022-2026, the EDB has already fulfilled its investment plan ahead of schedule, amounting to $3.8 billion.

"Last year, the bank's investments in Kazakhstan's economy totaled $1.4 billion, with the share of Kazakhstani projects in the portfolio reaching 60 percent. Over $1 billion of investments are planned to be directed towards the modernization of infrastructure and energy facilities, the development of renewable energy sources, transportation and logistics, including the reconstruction of roads of national importance, as well as into industry and digital technologies," said Podguzov.

According to Podguzov, this year, the EDB is set to keep its nose to the grindstone, backing the growth of Kazakhstan's financial market and reeling in investments, and they’ll be rubbing elbows with partners and multilateral organizations, even rolling out the red carpet for their own international events.

President Tokayev gave a thumbs-up to the Eurasian Development Bank's role in boosting Kazakhstan's economy and confirmed the willingness to further deepen cooperation.

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is a multilateral development bank that carries out investment activities in the Eurasian space. The EDB's headquarters is located in Almaty. As of 2025, the bank's portfolio includes 305 projects with a total value of $16.5 billion. The focus is on initiatives with an integration effect in the areas of transport infrastructure, digitalization, green energy, agriculture, industry, and machine engineering.
