The first meeting of the Azerbaijani Tourism Association (AZTA) established by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in January was held on April 14. Almost all local companies participated in the meeting.
A charter including members of board and amount of membership fees was adopted at the meeting.
Nakhid Bahirov (Khazar Travel) was appointed chairman of the association's board. Heads of the companies, such as Improtex Travel, Caspian Travel, Pasha Travel, Silkway Travel, Euroturizm entered the staff of board's members.
The association's membership fees hit 100 manat per month (1,200 manat per year).
The association will follow three major principles during its activity - development of tourism and protection of tour companies' rights, chairman of board Bahirov said at the meeting.
Presently, tour companies face some problems. One of these problems is lack of opportunity to create new direct and charter flights, he said.
"I think the association will assist to solve this problem under support of the companies," Bahirov said.
Another problem of the Azerbaijani tour companies is registration of visa, he said.
"The association will assist to solve this problem and hold active talks with the Foreign Ministry and all consulates in Azerbaijan, Bahirov said.
One of important problems of tour companies is tariff policy of hotels, he said. "The association will achieve granting of special tariffs for members of the association," Bahirov said.
Roughly 201 tour companies operate in Azerbaijan.
