Losses of the German airline Lufthansa due to the problems with the implementation of the flights related with the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyyafyatlayokudl is estimated at 200 million euros, Lufthansa's regional director for Russia and CIS Ronald Schulz said in Baku.
"We recently considered this issue, the figure is around 200 million euros," Schulz said.
But despite the losses, the company does not lose hope for this year's profits. In 2009, even in the crisis period Lufthansa received profits in the amount of 130 million euros.
According to Schulz, crisis made the company to pay more attention to its activity, including to the direction of improving the quality of the provided services.
Lufthansa continues to expand its aircraft fleet, particularly it is planned to put into operation 46 new aircraft in 2010. In subsequent years the company plans to put into operation 100 new aircraft. During the six years the company plans to spend 13 billion euros to upgrade and expand the aircraft fleet.
