The demand for household appliances in Georgia has not only not decreased, but remains stably high, said Mehmed Melek, head of the Turkish Beko company in Georgia, Trend reports via Georgian media.
"At the same time, there are even signs of shortage - because of the pandemic, the Beko company does not have time to manufacture products,” he said.
According to him, when people are at home for a long time, they begin to understand that the time has come to update equipment, for example, gas ovens, refrigerators, or washing machines. In addition, distance learning has led to an increase in demand for computers, laptops, various computer accessories, etc.
“Despite the pandemic and devaluation of the lari exchange rate, which led to a decrease in the population's income, we added three brands to the product range. In general, there is a decline in the market, but it did not particularly affect us, since our goods rose in price by no more than 2-3 percent. Of course, our profits have decreased, but now the main thing for us is to maintain our niche in Georgia during this difficult period,” Melek said.
As he noted, the demand is also facilitated by the easing of credit regulations, thanks to which consumer loans and installment plans have become more affordable, which has increased the opportunities for purchasing equipment.
