Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation and regional cooperation, Trend reports with reference to the Government Portal of Uzbekistan.
The reviews were held during a telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The parties stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts to increase the volume of mutual trade, deepen cooperation in the field of industry, energy, agriculture, transport, and other sectors, and intensify cultural and humanitarian exchange.
The heads of state also discussed the organization of the next Consultative Meeting of the heads of Central Asian states. Thus, the sides agreed on the thorough preparation of the program of the upcoming multilateral event.
The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan amounted to $166.9 million from January through April 2021.
During the reporting period, the import of Turkmen products to Uzbekistan amounted to $ 130.5 million.
Meanwhile, exports from Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan amounted to $ 36.5 million.
