Indian companies will be welcomed at offshore oil projects in Kazakhstan, the Observer Research Foundation Institute's Eurasian specialist Nandan Unikrishnan said.
"India wants good relations and cooperation with Kazakhstan in every sector, including oil and gas, uranium and agriculture," he said. "This is strategically important for the country. If India joins offshore projects in the Caspian, then India will contribute more than one would expect to the fields."
He also spoke about the giant Indian energy company Relines.
"Relines has a gas field in the Bengal Gulf," Unikrishnan said. "The field will cover 10-12 percent of the country's gas needs. Gazprom and ExxonMobil refused to explore the field. But Relines went deep and recovered gas. They have worked in seas deeper than the Caspian. So their experience may be useful for Kazakhstan."
