The well #280 with a production rate of 2 million cubic meters of gas per day was commissioned in Galkynysh biggest gas field in eastern Turkmenistan, the Turkmen Oil and Gas Complex said in a message Oct. 5.

According to the message, the well was commissioned by specialists of Turkmengas Engineering and Construction department of the Turkmengas State Concern.

"For the first time the technological equipment was installed by Turkmen specialists without involving foreign companies," the message said.

The Turkmengas specialists carried out wiring operations and other work by using equipment, drafts and technological maps of UAE’s Petrofac company.

Currently, the brigades of Turkmengas Engineering and Construction department are completing the equipment installation and are preparing for commissioning three more high-yielding wells at the field.

At present, gas from the Galkynysh field is supplied to the domestic market and exported to China via the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China pipeline, while the volumes of supplies are growing every year.

Moreover, Galkynysh gas field was chosen as a resource base for supplies via the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline, which is planned to be commissioned in 2020.

The reserves of Galkynysh and the nearby fields are estimated at 27.4 trillion cubic meters. Of them, 21.2 trillion cubic meters of gas account for Galkynysh, 5 trillion cubic meters account for Yashlar and 1.2 trillion cubic meters account for the nearby Garakel field.
