The kick-off meeting for Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR’s NEFERTITI project, which envisages production of chemical substances such as ethanol / iso-propanol from carbon dioxide by using solar energy, is scheduled for July 13, 2021, SOCAR Turkey told Trend.
“NEFERTITI project consortium is comprised of ten companies and we will work on this project jointly with them. The project’s kick-off meeting is scheduled for July 13, 2021, which will mark the start of the project’s implementation period that will take 48 months,” said the company.
SOCAR Turkey said the project will use CO2 as raw material.
“We are trying to determine the appropriate flow by monitoring Petkim and STAR oil refinery’s emissions. Since this study will be carried out on a laboratory scale, we are conducting a research on the place where we can put the mini demo unit. We meet with the project team to determine the utilities to be used and the products to be produced and determine the necessary conditions for occupational health and process reliability.”
This project will convert carbon dioxide and water into chemicals. By implementing this project the company aims to increase its experience in diversifying the use of renewable energy sources.
