Azerbaijan enhances gas output and export volumes in 8M2024

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 10. Azerbaijan has recorded a notable increase in natural gas production to 33 billion cubic meters from January through August 2024, an uptick from the previous year's figures, Trend reports via the Ministry of Energy.

According to the Ministry of Energy, this growth represented a rise of 0.8 billion cubic meters compared to the same period in 2023.

The total production comprised 8.7 billion cubic meters from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field, 18.1 billion cubic meters - Shah Deniz field, 1.1 billion cubic meters - Absheron field, and 5.1 billion cubic meters - State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) itself.

In terms of exports, Azerbaijan shipped 16.4 billion cubic meters of gas abroad from January through August 2024, a slight increase from 15.8 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2023. The European market received 8.4 billion cubic meters, reflecting a rise of 0.8 billion cubic meters. Conversely, exports to Türkiye decreased to 6.5 billion cubic meters, a reduction of 0.2 billion cubic meters, while exports to Georgia remained stable at 1.5 billion cubic meters.

In 2023, Azerbaijan’s total gas production stood at 48.3 billion cubic meters, with exports totaling 23.8 billion cubic meters.
