Iran has provided local imrters about 6.2 billion euros in currency for the import of various products from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) up to June 28, Trend reports citing Central Bank of Iran (CBI).
According to the report, about 2.2 billion euros were provided at the NIMA system exchange rate.
The NIMA exchange rate created for exporters to sell a portion of their export earnings to banks. According to the NIMA, 1 euro equals to 187,243 rials, and $1 equals to 160,840 rials.
“About 2.1 billion euros were provided for the import of essential products, medicines and medical supplies,” the report said.
This currency is provided at the official exchange rate in Iran ($1 equals to 42,000 rials).
According to the report, 1.9 billion euros were provided through bartering and other forms of export. Some 800 million euros were provided by exports in exchange for imports.
The CBI put up for sale 260 million euros at the NIMA exchange rate last Iranian week (the week starts on Saturday in Iran). This figure increased by 37 percent compared to the preceding week.
The Iranian exporters sold 429 million euros in currency to banks at the NIMA rate in the last week. This figure increased by 92 percent compared to the preceding week.
