Kazakhstan expects the active participation of British companies in preparation and holding of EXPO-2017, commissioner of the international specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 Rapil Zhoshybayev said, the press service of Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported on Friday.

Kazakhstan expects the active participation of British companies in preparation and holding of EXPO-2017, commissioner of the international specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 Rapil Zhoshybayev said, the press service of Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported on Friday.

"The Development of tourism in Kazakhstan and the application of Great Britain's experience in this field were discussed during the meeting. Kazakhstan expects the active involvement of British companies in the preparation and holding of EXPO-2017 in the field of alternative energy, construction and tourism," Executive Secretary of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, commissioner of the International specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 Rapil Zhoshybayev said at the meeting with a member of the House of Commons of the British Parliament, Special Trade Envoy of British Prime Minister to Kazakhstan Charles Hendry.

Rapil Zhoshybayev thanked the British government for the support of Kazakhstan's candidacy to host EXPO-2017 in Astana. During the meeting it was noted that the exhibition in Astana will contribute to the development and use of alternative energy, allow for the better presentation of the world's best technology in Astana and promote energy efficiency programs and new solutions.

"Rapil Zhoshybayev stressed that inclusion of the British government by Kazakhstan to the list of 14 priority countries to enhance bilateral trade and investment, including the appointment of a special trade envoy of British Prime Minister to Kazakhstan will certainly increase the bilateral trade and economic cooperation," the press-service reported.

In turn, as reported by the ministry, Charles Hendry welcomed the election of Astana as venue for EXPO-2017 exhibition, and said that the upcoming global event will give additional impetus not only to develop Astana, but also Kazakhstan as a state and as a recognized leader in Central Asia. According to him, the British government will make necessary efforts to enhance bilateral trade and economic relations.
