Kazakhstan hikes up ceiling price for LPG

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 2. The Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almassadam Satkaliyev has signed an order to increase the maximum wholesale price for liquefied petroleum gas from July 1, 2024, Trend reports.

According to the order, the maximum wholesale price for liquefied petroleum gas increased from 40,320 to 45,158 tenge (from $85.37 to $95.61) per ton.

Due to the increase in the maximum price for the wholesale sale of liquefied petroleum gas from July 1, 2024, the cost of automobile gas is set at:

Astana city, Akmola, Kostanay, Karaganda, Abay, Zhetysu, Ulytau, East Kazakhstan regions - 84 tenge per liter (was 76 tenge);
Almaty city, Almaty, North Kazakhstan regions – 89 tenge (was 81 tenge);
Shymkent city, West Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda regions - 70 tenge (was 64 tenge);
Aktobe, Atyrau, Mangystau regions - 59 tenge (was 54 tenge);
Zhambyl region - 78 tenge (was 71 tenge);
Pavlodar region - 81 tenge (was 74 tenge);
Turkistan region - 70 tenge (was 64 tenge).

Meanwhile, on March 15, Kazakhstan has again extended the ban on the export of liquefied petroleum gas from the country for a period of six months.

Previously, the ban was adopted in order to prevent the flow of liquefied petroleum gas to border countries and the emergence of a shortage in the domestic market.

In 2023, gas production in Kazakhstan amounted to 59.063 billion cubic meters, including large fields such as Tengiz (16.009 billion cubic meters), Karachaganak (22.385 billion cubic meters), Kashagan (11.856 billion cubic meters), and others (8.813 billion cubic meters). Kazakhstan is projected to produce 60.456 billion cubic meters of raw natural gas in 2024.
