DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, March 4. Outstanding loans from Tajikistan's financial institutions to the country's industrial sector surged to 2.678 billion somoni ($245.077 million) in 2023, Trend reports.
According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, this is an 81-percent increase from the previous year's figure of 1.478 billion somoni ($135.259 million).
The industrial sector emerged as a major beneficiary of loans, alongside the consuming and agricultural sectors. Loans to the consuming sector reached 8.189 billion somoni ($749.418 million), while the agricultural sector received 2.734 billion somoni ($250.202 million).
Overall, Tajikistan's credit financial institutions witnessed a notable rise in outstanding loans in 2023, reaching 18.991 billion somoni ($1.737 billion) in 2023, up by 32 percent from the 14.382 billion somoni ($1.316 billion) recorded in 2022.
As of December 31, 2023, Tajikistan had a total of 63 credit financial organizations operational. These included 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds, highlighting the diverse landscape of the country's financial sector.
