DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 13. Russia and Tajikistan aim to increase bilateral trade by 2.5 times by 2030, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced during a press conference following talks with Tajikistan's Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin in Moscow, Trend reports.

Lavrov stated that we discussed concrete steps that will help us confidently move towards this goal.

He emphasized that Russia remains a key trading partner for Tajikistan, accounting for over 20 percent of the country’s trade turnover in 2024.

According to the minister, Russia was also the second-largest investor in Tajikistan's economy. Lavrov highlighted the expansion of ties in various sectors, including industry, energy, agriculture, and high technologies.

The minister also mentioned that Russia will continue to contribute to the modernization of Tajikistan's military and technical forces.

The data from Tajikistan's Statistical Agency shows that the total trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan reached $1.98 billion in the past year, which is a 15.6 percent increase compared to 2023. More than 90 percent of the trade was conducted in Russian rubles.

Tajikistan’s overall foreign trade turnover for 2024 exceeded $8.9 billion, which is a $626 million, or nearly 7.5 percent increase, compared to 2023, according to the Ministry of Economy of Tajikistan.
