TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 21. Uzbekistan produced 66.6 billion kWh of electricity from January through October 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency shows that the production volume has increased by 4.7 percent compared to the same period last year (63.6 billion kWh in January–October 2023).
At the same time, the country’s electricity production increased to 6.3 billion kWh in October 2024, compared to 5.9 billion kWh in September 2024.
Deputy Energy Minister of Uzbekistan Umid Mamadaminov during the Ministerial Dialogue on Promoting Energy Transition Based on Renewable Energy Sources in Central Asia at COP29, said that the production of electricity from renewable energy sources in Uzbekistan will amount to at least 40 percent by 2030.
According to him, the country aims to increase the share of renewable energy. In the energy sector transition, it is important to cooperate with neighboring countries to strengthen cross-border ties. This is really important because the example of the European Union and other countries shows how they are developing their energy transition and cross-border linkages, especially when integrating variable energy sources into the grid. It is necessary to utilize the resources of the whole region.
