Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade of Iran has published a report unveiling production volume of various home appliances (including air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and TV sets) in the first 11 months of the last Iranian fiscal year (March 20, 2017 - Feb. 20).
The report indicates that the sector (excluding washing machines and refrigerators) has witnessed output fall in the last fiscal year.
According to the report, over 419,600 air conditioners (a 30.7 percent decrease), 1.056 million refrigerators (a 13.1 percent increase), 812,800 washing machines (a 7.3 percent increase) and 1.111 million TV sets (a 17.3 percent decrease) were manufactured in Iran in the first 11 months of the last fiscal year.
The industry ministry links the air conditioners output fall to seasonal demand and export decrease, according to Iran’s ISNA news agency.
Iranian manufacturers produced 151,400 TV sets in the 11th Iranian calendar month (5.1 percent more month-on-month), while the country’s refrigerator and washing machines production amounted to 103,900 and 102,700, registering a monthly increase of 12.3 and of 29.9 percent, respectively.
The country’s production of air conditioners stood at 42,300 in the same month, compared to 39,200 in the preceding month.
Iran also manufactured 7.965 million of electromotors in the first 11 months of the last fiscal year, 2.8 percent less year-on-year.
According to the ministry, the electromotor output has decreased due to lack of financial resources, as well as problems related to supply of raw materials.
The yearly turnover of home appliances market in Iran reaches $8 billion. Domestic production accounts for 75 percent of this amount, according to Iranian officials.
