Key task – to hold dialogue with Islamic world: new elected NATO Secretary General

It is necessary to hold a dialogue with the Islamic world and prevent any racial and religious discrimination, NATO new Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said at the forum of the Alliance of Civilization in Istanbul, the Turkish TRT-2 TV channel reported.

The forum is taking place in Istanbul. The Turkish and Spanish premiers put forward an initiative to form the Alliance of Civilization in 2005 and UN supported this initiative.

"I am against of blaming people for their religious, ethnic and cultural belonging," Rasmussen, Danish ex-PM said.

As to caricatures in Denmark, he said it was incorrectly understood as disrespect to the Islamic world. "It is necessary to hold a dialogue with the Islamic world," he said.
