Iran, Tehran, Dec. 24 / Trend , A.Namdari/ BCC reporters arrested in Iran are not natives of the United Kingdom, Iran's security minister said.
"The reports about the arrest of the UK citizens are false," Iran's security minister Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejehei told press conference.
Several BBC reporters have been arrested in Tehran. They are accused of espionage in favor of the United Kingdom.
"Iran's security agencies have revealed that several BBC reporters intended to engage in espionage in the Islamic Republic of Iran with the support of the UK embassy," Muhammad Karim Abidi, member of the Foreign Policy and National Security Commission of the Iranian parliament, said in his interview with ILNA news agency.
He said several BBC reporters booked rooms it the hotel under different names. BBC reporters were planning to create a network of espionage by organizing various groups, Abidi said.
He said Iran's security agencies have disbanded several of these groups. The remaining members of the espionage network are being searched at the moment.
