A joint sitting of the Milli Mejlis (MM) permanent commissions on human rights, legal policy, state building, science and education, as well as the culture took place on 5 September.
The deputy chairman of the human rights permanent commission Rabiyat Aslanova, speaking at the sitting reported, setting up a solid legislative base is needed for ensuring the right for the citizens to obtain the information, Trend reports.
According to Aslanova, in this respect a number of legislative acts have already been adopted at the Parliament, and some bills are still under discussion. She reported, after the May discussions of the draft law “On obtaining the information”, the working group carried out a serious work and the document was substantially improved.
On the whole, the document submitted in the new version in the second reading consists of 2 sections, 21 articles. It is essentially improved and goes in line with the European standards.
The document reflects the principles for obtaining information, the tasks of the information receivers and the responsibility for arranging obtaining the information, the control for the law enforcement and etc.
During the discussions deputies and specialists emphasized the importance of the bill, voiced their opinions and proposals. Then the draft law was recommended for the discussion at the Milli Mejlis for approval.
